Hello Hamster Central
Hello everyone!
My name is Casey and I live in South Carolina. I currently have 1 husband, 3 children, 2 black cats, a foster dog, and 2 gerbils. I have had multiple hammies in the past and on Monday (possibly) I will be getting 1, possibly 2 dwarf hamsters. Based on their pictures they look like Russian dwarf or Winter white.
As a teenager and in my very early twenties I had 3 hamsters, I loved watching them play in their cages since I was always a night owl they kept me company while up late or studying. I have, what I considered, and intermediate knowledge of hamster care. But again, it's been years so I'm quite a bit rusty. I remember the basics but at this point the more detailed bits are lost.
I'm hoping to glean as much info from this forum as I can before Monday and then enjoy continuing to learn and share hamster info with all of you.
For starters I'm getting the baby hamster from a lady who bought it and discovered it was pregnant later. She isn't sure of the sex of the babies which is why I might be getting one and not both. I do have a contingency plan in case I love both and they are opposite sexes. Having had guinea pigs and gerbils for quite some time I do have multiple cages or aquariums I can use for them. I have a 30 long split into two sides as well in case they are opposite sexes. I have some food for it already and mealworms and sunflower seeds since my gerbils have those as treats. Water bottles, climb on things, chewing things and so on.
I look forward to learning more about these wonderful little critters and sharing them with you once I get them.
Thanks
