Hello everyone!
Hi all,
Just thought I’d introduce my self, I’m McSunny and I am an HC addict. Phew, it feels good share.
Our hammy story started last year when hubby and I rescued my sister’s Syrian, Turtle. Without going into too much detail she was moving and couldn’t take Turtle with her. We got him home, renamed him Indy as it was a bit of a less confusing name. Some time later we realised “he” was actually a “she” (the lack of boy parts gave it away, as did the distinctive smell when she was on heat).
Over the 6 months Indy was with us we grew very attached to the little fella (old habits die hard, never got used to calling him a her) and when it was time to say goodbye we were heartbroken. We came back from honeymoon and found the people looking after him had kept him in quite a cold room. Even though he was old (around 2 yrs) he seemed chipper when we left and it was shocking how quickly he went down hill after we got him back but we loved him to the end.
A little while later we decided we needed another furry in our life and got Sunny (aka Sunny Bum, Sunshine, Little One). We got her from P@H in November last year. This was before I had found HC, otherwise I would probably have adopted or found a reputable breeder but hey ho. It took about a week to tame her, which was a very rewarding process despite the nips. I discovered HC and found the tips and advice invaluable; I just wish I found it earlier.
Sunny is currently in a heavily meshed Cavi 80 guinea pig cage that more than one person has said resembles Alcatraz! Before that she was in a ferplast (not sure which one, it was quite small though) but she chewed a hole almost the entire way around the water bottle hole. A few more days and she would have been outta there! I switched to a wire cage but realised this was about the same size as the old one. Both are now just used for storing toys, bedding etc. Sunny seems so much happier in her new cage, she’s always running about whereas before she would just sit and stare into space, waiting for someone to let her out. And she doesn’t try and escape anymore, well hardly ever! I’ll post a few pics in the housing section as I would appreciate any advice or would be grateful to hear if anyone has any concerns.
Soz for the long post! I’ll try an upload pics later but she is a similar colouring to Souffle’s Hamster of the Month. I’m at work at the mo so have to wait til I get home to do the pics.
Thanks for reading!

Re: Hello everyone!
You don't need to be sorry that you're proud of your hamsters! Welcome to HC to all of you, it sounds like you were a fantastic mum to Indy and I bet (s)he adored the home you gave them. I look forward to seeing photos.
