Re: New to the hamster world.
Hi, welcome to the forum!
Just a small word of warning, most hamster books are now quite old fashioned. The one book we all reccomend is Hamsterlopaedia, that is also one of the most up to date ones.

Welcome to HC Don't ever hesitate to ask a question on the forum
Where do you plan on getting your hamster from? Breeders or rescue centers are best

Re: New to the hamster world.
Haha sorry El I used to think they were really ugly! It wasnt until I saw my first robo that I fell in love! Then all species of dwarf hamsters were beautiful to me! It took me a long time to come around to Syrians and even then it was only the LH ones! Its only in the last couple of months that I have started liking SH Syrians

UGLY? You should be ashamed of yourself. Bob is very grumpy now as he's worried you don't like him cos he's a syrian :P

Re: New to the hamster world.
Thanks to all the replies
I'm planning on getting a syrian hamster, as I think I find them cutest.
My hamster is coming from a friend as her and her mum breed them occasionally and I know that its always better to get animals from a breeder than a pet shop.
As well as reading books, I have been making my wown little scrap book from bits I've found on the internet, theres a lot of information to sift though.
