OH MY GOD! The best possible cage you could get! Fantastic. As you can tell, I'm an Alexander fan and now very jealous of yours .

With regards to wheels, my Syrian hates them, just doesn't get one with them at all. So, I got her a 12 inch flying saucer from Zooplus and she adores it, so it might be worth thinking about giving one of those a go. There pretty much silent and you have the added bonus of knowing your hams back is completely flat on it. Granted, you have to sacrifice a bit of cage floor space but if they enjoy it, it's worth it.

Red face Re: *waves* Beginner Needing Advice Please

The Alexander cage arrived the other day, and we've set it all up. Humbert seems to love it!

He's such a pleasure to have - he's the tamest little hamster I've ever known. He comes to the bar door when he knows we're in the room and when we open it, he climbs onto our hands.

He comes up to the bars and gives us pitiful looks when he wants food - because he knows we'll slip him something yummy (most often healthy fruit and vegetable - but he is a slave to French Fancies!).

It appears the noises he was making are definitely happy noises. When we first popped him in the Alexander - he ran around chirping happily. It's a new smell kind of sniffle/chirp noise. Sooo cute!

We love our little Humbert...

...so much so, that we've become serious animal lovers and just bought Guinea pigs too :-O There are so many cages around, it feels like we're in one too! XD

Ooh yeh, that's a good cage, I bet he's loving it
Bob makes chirping noises too when he wants to get my attention and play. He also comes up to the bars and gives me looks! And he climbs into my hands when I open the door (he dislikes being grabbed at)!! They sound like brothers, hehe. I think he's quite big too but then he's my first syrian so have nothing to compare him to.
Looking forward to seeing more pics of him and his new cage ^^

Awww, my Evie does the sniffle/chirp thing too. I was worried too when I first heard it as I thought she had a cold! But I now I realise it's when she's sniffing something new and is excited.

Humbert is adorable, and it sounds like he's found ham-parents who will spoil him, lucky chap!

Just to say that it is not recommended for long haired hamsters to have a standard wheel, I believe. Fur can get caught.
