Default Mature hamster owner just arrived - well nipped

Hello, everyone, thought I would make my presence known on the forum. My age is deleted but is on the wrong side of the big $0, have one male syrian hamster called Asbo Hamsa kept in a Pennine Rat starter cage with extra levels added to make use of the space and two male dwarf hamsters called Light and Shade kept in a Feberplast Astro 3 which has two extra levels to increase surface area. These two are into biting everything so have to wear gloves. On the plus side its easy to move them - just put your hand in the cage , they latch on with ther teeth and then they can be carried anywhere!

The Syrians is about 10 - 12 weeks old, the two dwarfs are 6 weeks old last weekend.
The syrian is a banded chocolate male , the male dwarfs are grey (light) and brindled browny colour (shade).
Its fun when they nip. I just push them over onto their backs so they look like they,ve just died with their legs in the air. they click rapidly to show their annoyance.

Hi and welcome from me as well

Your hams sound like characters - are their cages the ones from Wilkinson's? I toyed with getting the Wilko's rat cage for Mocha at one point as I was impressed with the space it gave. (As it happens it's good I didn't as he turned into a manic bar chewer despite having 3 linked cages to himself ).

The cages are on display at the Housing section of the forum. I got them both on ebay, the pennine rat starter cage was second hand while the Feberplast was new.

Hello and welcome!

Some dwarf hammies NEVER get out of the habit of biting.... my girls are more than happy to bite anyone and everything except me.. odd creatures. I have male friends who are terrified of them. See my profile for more!

And I'm heading rapidly towards 30 so don't be worried about being, er, slightly ancient

Welcome to the forum Pouchy. Your hamsters are all very young and with time, patience and regular handling I am sure they will tame up.
