Hiya,
I found HC by typing in a few keywords relating to hamsters and adding 'forum' on the end, and searched in Google. I'm in the process of preparing for a new hamster
, and I find that forums give the best advice as its all personal experience and not just copied from another webpage. For example, I've been researching products like cages, wheels etc and forums are the best place to get reviews as they're unbiased. If I just typed in 'hamster cage' or even 'hamster cage review', you tend to get loads of ads or retailers - and most don't have customer reviews anyway.
If you type in 'hamster forum', then Hamster Central is at the top of the list, and that always looks good. It shows that the site was programmed properly, in terms of how Google finds it. The site pages themselves come across as well-put-together too, so that has a major impact on whether you spend a lot of time on it. Worked for me - I just registered!!
