Re: New to hamsters =)
Welcome to little Chris
Best to gradually introduce a new food though, as a sudden change can upset their tummies. Just add a little to the P@H mix to begin with, and gradually add more over time.

Re: New to hamsters =)
welcome to chris!
You only really need to feed hamsters every 2 days or when their food stores look a bit low. And you can clean your ham out every 1 1/2 weeks if you spot clean the pee corners and the cage still looks clean

Re: New to hamsters =)
Feeding them is dependant on the hamster really. My syrian has her bowl filled once a week (it is a big bowl though) and treats inbetween. But generally just whenever its low I top it up!
Cleaning out I do once every two weeks. Her sand tray (where she pees) every 3 or 4 days. With cleaning out remeber to keep some of the old bedding back to put with the new so that there scent still stays in the cage.

Re: New to hamsters =)
wow that was quick!!!
He may soon outgrow the peggy though so bare that in mind.
Harry Hamster is the food but lots use p@h museli..if u change you do it gradually.
I clean my lot out once a week but some are jar toilet trained so i spot clean and can leave it 1-2 weeks, makes life easier!!!
leave him to settle for a few days..i find they tame up better with a few days to "chill" xxxx
oh yes and save pennies with the jay cloth, just buy a pack of cheap toilet paper and shred it...the cheaper it is the safer it generally is as it disintergrates easier x

Re: New to hamsters =)
Forgot to mention loo roll for bedding when suggesting what to use. Good idea. I must admit I struggle shredding enough loo roll for 9 hamsters though.
Think Lexy is planning on upgrading him to a Hamster Heaven when he has grown a bit.
