Re: New to hamsters =)
I think we've decided on either: Two chinease hamsters? Or one syrrian.

Re: New to hamsters =)
the first posts need to be moderated but now you are on your way!
Ratties are awesome and if i must be truthful are better than hammies. They are more interactive and give more back. Easier to clean but require more time.
Hammies are lovely though..mine still give me the run around though, dont be fooled lol
i think chinese are kept solitary though- pretty sure.
Also pairing of robos or campbells can be risky and you need to be prepared to split them so have 2 cages etc of everything.
I would go syrian until you get into the routine lol
oh and my bf is the same xxx

I think syrrian sounds good - he just wants whatever's easiest. LOL I kinda told him he doesn't have MUCH say in the matter as it's my xmas moneys. tehe!
I was watching video's of hamsters, and my guineapigs started rumbelling they were not impressed.
Any idea where'sa good place to get them from in peterborough xox

Re: New to hamsters =)
Mines like that lol I made some money on ebay and that is paying for my new baby ratties in ...17 days!!! EEEE!!!
Personally i would try find a breeder near you. The qualoty and temprement will be much nicer and you will know the background.
I think peterborough lands under the southern hamster club-
Southern Hamster Club
i went to my first midland hamster club show in november and won some rosettes. Met some people from here as well...totally try get to one if you can.
I not very good at knwoing where the breeders are, we have a list and you can contact them to see what litters they have available.

Oh my god am all embarrassed ha ha. Thanks Lexy
Welcome to the forum. When you visit you can have cuddles with Daisy and Bella.
I think Chinese need to be kept alone too.
If there are no local breeders you could see who is in the P@h adoption centre. Also think there is a hamster rescue somewhere in Herts.

Re: New to hamsters =)
Heheh it is exciting getting any new furry
I would deff say try get from a breeder first but if not just ask around your local pet stores and see where they source their animals from.
P@H adoption area is usually just their "old stock" which may be rodent farm based depending which store you are at x

Re: New to hamsters =)
I has hamster! His name is chris - because hes' a diva like my husband! he wasn't to keen when I told him why - Chris lives in a peggy metro. It has a pink shelf. We had a hard time putting it together but helen and her other half came to our rescue *salutes*
I wasn't planning on it, we went to pets at home because the piggies have green stuff in their waterbottles, and he was awake staring at me. so, we got him haah
He has sawdust covering the floor, and I'm going to get him some Jaycloth bedding from Wilkinson when we get some more money. He has the pets at home food at the moment and when that runs out he'll have the brand you guys suggested ...can't remmeber teh name though!
I shall take some photo's when he's awake tonight =D xox
