Smile Hi from Las Vegas

G'day!!! My 6 year old got his first hamster a week ago. We adopted her from a rescue organization. We were told that she is a Robo hamster. He is thrilled. I had hamsters growing up, but that was 35 years ago so i have a lot of brushing up to do .

We have 2 cats, a rabbit, a tank full of fish, and a colony of ants (a science study for school.....and the little critters are still alive 4 months later!).

What prompted me to register with this site???? Well, we went to clean Flash's cage yesterday.....and.....ta-da......3 babies. My son was SO EXCITED. Me.....terrified. I remember my hamsters (and mice) eating their babies. I explained that we must leave her alone! We have put her in my closet and covered her with a blanket. So far, there are still 3 babies. I have been giving her a fresh bowl of veggies, pellets, some fruit, and eggs a couple of times a day.

I have questions, but I'll post those under the correct topic (i hope anyway).

All I want is to raise a happy, healthy hamster (er.....hamsters).

Have a great day!

WOW, what a surprise. So did you find out if she might eat them? I once brought home a guinea pig that was pregnant (didn't know of course) and she did eat her young. *sigh* It really freaked me out about guinea pigs forever after that and I won't own another even though I have no hard feelings or anything toward an animal though I don't understand it.

Sounds like you already know a lot of what to do though! Neat you bring home one and now you have four!!!! I'm envious! Robos are cute enough as adults but babies?!?!?! Oh my goodness!
