Hey everyone! Me and my boyfriend just recently got a Hamster!

Her name is Zelda, she is adorable! I believe she is a hybrid but im not too sure. I had a few questions. We just got her about a week ago and we changed her into a bigger cage yesterday. She is a very bite prone hamster and we have been trying to not handle her at all so she can acclimate to her new environment. Saw a YouTube video that said to get hands in her cage so she can start getting used to our hands being in there, but she chases our hands down and if we let her reach our hands she immediately bites, quite hard too. Just wondering if this will stop or if we are doing something wrong I’m just a beginner hamster owner since I was a kid and I have tried doing as much research as possible any helpful advice will be gladly welcomed!

It will take a while for a hamster to trust you. I used to feed mine almonds or walnuts by hand once a day. After a while he would come running when he saw me. That said any pet will bite when scared. Give it time and take things slow.
