Haha, that is entirely possible! (:
Thank you very much.

Somehow it bothered me so much that everything was so 'leveled out' in Maximus enclosure,
so I did some minor changes where I could squish in his two-story mansion, which he seems to like.
He's been zooming up over the balcony and having a good snoop around in the little second floor house.
I am hoping that he will not make his primary sleeping place and hoard under the main part, but as it seems now,
he's well installed in his multichamber house, combined with sleeping in the large tunnel sometimes.

The substrate you are using looks so nice and natural, Voessy. Please may I ask what you are using?

Certainly. I use aubiose/hemp bedding layered with soft hay and the occasional layer of paper (normal toiletpaper that I rip and cut into pieces myself, because I'm a little nutty).

So is that aubiose bedding mixed with hemp bedding, or does it all come in one? Is it good for tunnelling - that is, does it hold its shape? Could you possibly send me a link for that and the hay? - I've never really ventured beyond woodshavings and Kaytee Clean and Cozy (and I have plenty of the latter left as Freya was put to sleep just after buying a new, extra large bag....)

Aubiose and hemp is the same thing, just how you call it!
It is more commonly sold as horse bedding, I'm not sure where you can buy it in Scotland. I get it from my local pet shop (belgium). It does not hold tunneling very well in my opinion, so that is why I add in the layers of hay and paper to improve that. I also press down each layer to make it compact, so depending on the cage size you have, you might need a bit more than you expect. I really do like it though, it doesn't smell at all and the texture and color is really nice. I just did a quick search for it, you can probably find a link easily too (so you can order it): Aubiose Ltd | The Natural Alternative Horse bedding, the original hemp bedding

As for the hay, I get it from the local pet shop aswell. I just make sure it isn't too rough or pokey. The ones I use are: Tom&Co Kruidenhooi Brandnetelblad & Goudsbloem. They come in variations.

Just as a matter of interest. Is that nettles and daisies?
I'm Bavarian and it sounds so similar to the german Brennessel und Gänseblümchen.

Almost!
It is nettles and marigold, haha. But they do have one with daisies too funny enough.

Super welcome. Let me know how it goes and if you find even better solutions. Always interested. ^-^
