Meet Oliver
My new Russian hybrid arrived unexpectedly on Friday 13th. I have been told he is 8 weeks old. He was an adoption, as when he first arrived at the pet shop, he was so small, he got through the bars of the cage. He went missing for a while before being caught. At first he screeched, but before adoption he calmed down.
He is similar colour to Willow.
He is in a bin cage at the moment. I hope the smaller space will help with taming. He has sniffed me a few times, been in the playpen and had a little bit of handling, although he soon got too quick and had to be returned to his cage.
He is an escape artist. Last night after playpen time. I put him into his cage. I was tidying the playpen up and saw him running on the floor. I used the ball to catch him and returned him to his cage, only to see him climb the water bottle holder really fast. I rushed to stop him jumping from the rim of his bin cage. He was In the exercise ball for a couple of minutes while I removed the water bottle and holder and put in a water bowl.
Photo will be added once I can reduce the size.

I shall see your photo sooon.
Playpen time video. Although he hid. I may do another once he is confident. Just a little bit of nose in the video and a quick look at the playpen setup.

Aw little escape artist! He is probably quite scared but I'm sure he'll settle in.

re: Meet Oliver
He is settling in well. Playpen time again tonight. Corners are chewed a little, but I have added some p&h tubes to link the playpen to the cage and since then no chewing.
The chewing was probably due to wanting to go back to his cage. He can climb the tubes ok. He was having time in the playpen then going through the tube to his cage. He did this a few times, but is just using the playpen now.
He is sits on my hand for longer and accepts a little stroking. I was told he loves food especially carrot, but his carrot has been ignored so far.

re: Meet Oliver
Taming is going ok. Even though he has had a bit of a nibble of me. He loves the tubes that link the playpen and his cage. They are the p@h tubes that can be used with their cages that have tubes already. I put them at an angle/slope to make them easier to climb. He can spend ages, just going up and down them, from cage to playpen and back again. I have added some in the playpen for him to go through.
Once set up they can be twisted to make different shaped tunnels that are easier or harder to climb.

re: Meet Oliver
Sounds like he is having lots of fun with his tunnels CMB. Have you thought of a name for him yet?
