Edwina
I've always known that i wouldn't be able to resist a dark coloured, big eared dwarf and there she was amongst her fluffy, light coloured, pretty sisters.
I put my hand in the litter of hamster babies and she was the first to climb on it. Meant to be even though the shop girl had informed me that female dwarfs stink like rotten eggs when in heat.
She's called Edwina or Winnie, we'll see how her temperament pans out.
The short car journey and excitement of moving out to live on her own was all a bit much so now she's asleep and burrowed down next to her wheel.
Another female in the house is a whole new experience for me.....

Re: Edwina
Thank you people for your lovely comments! That's the second room i've rearranged to accommodate another hamster and yes, they are addictive.
Edwina has already moved into the big house and she's found the food. I'll leave her to settle in and find her way around her habitat for a few days before i'll slowly start to introduce myself to her. Got the tissue in my bra.
Here's Edwina peeking out from the transport box in the car on the way to her forever home.

Re: Edwina
AHH I just noticed an extra name when you commented on one of my threads. Hi Edwina, lucky girl. She's beautiful Ria. Have you had a female hamster before? The best way the rescue described the heat smell was 'musty or sweet/urine smell'. If you've ever owned rats, I'd compare it to buck grease

Re: Edwina
What a beautiful little girl! Congrats, look forward to seeing more of her.
I've only had one female Russian & she certainly didn't stink! Just the faintest scent sometimes but nothing really noticeable.

I completely agree. That has been my experience too with my female Russian hybrid Monty.
