Re: Edwina
She is lovely! Has her colour lightened a bit since you first got her?

Yes, she seems to have lightened a bit. I've had her just over a month now but she hasn't grown that much. Maybe she's naturally a small hamster.

Re: Edwina
Had Edwina for two months now and part of her habitat became bit miffy so decided to part exchange her substrate while Edwina went into the playpen box.
Afterwards she inspected absolutely everything! Test run the wheel, nibbled on all the millet sprays, quick sip of the bottle, in and out her food mushroom and hides, running through her tube and then she disappeared down a hole and reappeared at the other end of her bin cage. Now she's trying to take her flower pictures down. That's not very ladylike Edwina! I think she's another one who goes a bit crazy after a cage clean.

Re: Edwina
I love how you've set up her cage - it looks so natural and enriching. What are those things sticking up out of the log next to the wheel?

Re: Edwina
Thanks. They are millet sprays. Rosewood does a good variety pack for under £4 which can be found in the bird section or online. Not to be mistaken with the rabbit ones from pets@home.

Thanks. I always forget to check the bird section of pet shops.

Yes they are a type of millet but i can't remember their name. They are from the above mentioned Rosewood variety pack from the birds section.
I used to buy the expensive Rodipet ones until one day i had a nose around the bird section of a petshop nearby and found those.

Re: Edwina
The ball things come in a pack called "Naturals Harvest Festival for small animals", along with other herbs and grasses. I went to Pets at Home today and found some. They'll look lovely in Pumpkin's cage, and the gerbils will have 2 minutes of fun destroying them. There was a little black Russian dwarf hamster in the adoption section that tugged at my heart strings, but I resisted. I'm maxed out on pets right now.
