aww she is a cutie. I used the science selective pellets mushed up for my syrian Star when she was old. I'm not sure if that's ok for hybrids or not. Someone else may be able to confirm that.

Aww bless her She looks lovely & still pretty good for her age too.

Science selective are fine for Russians, not that any of mine would ever eat them but certainly worth a try.

Thank you all

Flowerfairy I got the ceramic dishes from my local garden centre. They’re actually tiny saucers for plant pots, but they work really well for Artie because they’re so shallow.

I’ll see if I can get a bag of science selective somewhere. I did look in P@H for it the other day, but the hamster one was the only one they didn’t have.

Also Artie was not at all interested in the chicken cat food (it smells horrible tbh) but I did see her eat some seeds yesterday and I’ve just given her some veg.

Hi chesca. Good to have the update about Artemis. She is a great age and seems to manage well. The only comment I have about the chicken cat food is that when I tried it in the past, it was the surrounding jelly rather than the meat that was eaten so I only served that to encourage eating it.

Ahh thank you for the tip Coco. I have kinda given up on the chicken as it smells so bad and Artie wasn’t even interested in it. Bucky had a bit, but so much ended up getting wasted that it’s not worth it.

Also the SS arrived at the weekend and Artie quite happily ate that when it had been mushed up. Bucky happily took 6 out of my hand so clearly that’s been a success.

Last time I saw her, she seemed to have put a bit of weight back on from all the extra soft foods, which is a relief. Although my dad rang me today and said she got stuck on one of her shelves (it’s about 2 inches off the floor) so it really looks like I’m going to have to downsize her cage as it’s not the most ideal cage for her anymore. I should be seeing Artemis again this weekend so I’ll update her thread again then.

It’s been a couple of months so I figured I’d write an update. I know I was being annoying and going back and forth on changing her cage. In the end, I’ve kept her in the plaza and she can’t climb anyway anymore, but I still have cardboard strips threaded through the bars in case.

She seems to be doing well, considering she’ll be 3 in about 6 weeks (if not sooner). We give her baby food everyday now, as it seems to be much easier to for her to eat and she gets soaked science selective pellets every other day (which she does like) as well as her normal mix. She can still eat the smaller seeds (flaxseed, millet etc) out of the mix and she did lick flaxseed off my finger last week. I have all her food bowls at the front of the cage, next to her water, so I can monitor what she eats. Artie still runs on her wheel, just a lot slower and for not nearly as long. She’s also started sleeping in an open nest.

She’s so sweet and docile and I’ve attached a photo of her sleeping this morning. It’s a bit blurry, because the easiest way for me to upload photos is by taking a picture of the photo on my phone. I think that’s all my updates on her tbh. I can’t believe she’s nearly 3! For Christmas, she got an alfalfa train and some treats and Bucky got a pop up playpen.
