Tiny Trooper
I have had my eye on this little hybrid dwarf for 2 weeks. I was waiting until I had all of the supplies and the bin cage built. He was at Petsmart with several other winter white looking hamsters in a tiny cage. He was the smallest one. They all had similar coloring except 2 did not have any gray. He is actually a surprise Christmas present for my 10 year old daughter, but he is just as much for me as he is for my daughter. I have named him Trooper (Star Wars Stormtrooper), although my daughter may rename him later.
He seems to be very adventurous and curious. I am leaving him alone for the next few days and that is going to be difficult, but I realize very necessary. He is currently hidden underneath his carefresh bedding.

Re: Tiny Trooper
Congrats
He looks adorable, like the name too.
If he seems adventurous & curious I wouldn't worry about leaving him too long, just go slow with the interaction, a day to settle should be long enough.
Just wondering if that's pieces of fleece in the box? Most fabrics can be dangerous if chewed so do take care with anything like that.

Re: Tiny Trooper
I did put fleece in his box for the ride home. It was below freezing outside when I got him. He doesn't have access to it anymore. I used to have a hedgehog & they are good with fleece, now I know hamsters are not. Thank you!

Re: Tiny Trooper
What a lovely surprise for your daughter.
Torn up toilet roll makes a great bedding material for them. All six of my hamsters have it and all six of them take it into their nests.

Re: Tiny Trooper
We are "hiding" him for now. Our kids are not allowed in our bedroom during the month of December to keep them from snooping for gifts. I got him early to work on taming before Christmas.
The funny thing is my daughter was pouting today because she really wants a hamster & I told her not now, maybe later. We were in a pet store looking for a new hayrack for our guinea pigs. One of the workers saw her looking at the hamsters & got out one of the sapphire WW hybrids & later a black bear syrian & my daughter was in hamster heaven & was a natural at handling them.

Thank you, I "wore" a plain tissue next to my skin for several hours & then put it in his bin cage. He has been too busy burrowing in the care fresh to do anything with it yet.
