Ariana
I'm looking at hamster obsessively I have to admit, but I found one I like. She is a red eyed Russian dwarf. I like the Russians cause they are active and easy to bond with. I know I told myself no more Russian hamsters. She's not as cute but a good personality and very active from what I can tell so far.

re: Ariana
I'm still not totally sure on colours but red eyed lilac maybe.
She looks very sweet!

re: Ariana
Hope so! I'm trying to get better at recognising colours!

re: Ariana
Would it be better to get an actual coat type rather than unspecified coat types? Maybe less chance of illness? Probably no way to know I'm sure?

re: Ariana
I don't think it would affect anything if hamsters were from the same litter. I'm not too sure though.
If it isn't a pedigree Russian then I think the risk of illness would be the same whether they are a specified colour or not. That's just my logic though, not anything scientific.

re: Ariana
I see what you mean that if they were from farms whether they have a pedigree or not isn't going to affect anything. The pet store where I bought her from had 3 other cage mates from different litters. She was the only solid color.

re: Ariana
I agree you can't tell anything much about hybrids just from their colour, it is unusual (here in the UK anyway) to see a self coloured one like that but I imagine she will still have very mixed genes.
Well done for adopting her anyway, I can see how you couldn't resist!

re: Ariana
I looked at pretty much all the surrounding stores & came up with nothing. Then I went to Pet Supplies Plus for the 2nd time & must have missed her the first time around. She might get fluffier as she ages. That's what happened to Cinnamon & Koala.
I wonder how common this color is in the states? I think I saw one this color at another pet store awhile ago.
PSP is the same store I bought Chloe 2 yrs ago.
