Thanks guys, it isn't always easy to tell what's right but I think every ham I've had has taught me something more about observing their behaviour & figuring out what works for them, they really are so different. I remember when I got my first ham a big bin before I had a play pen for out of cage time & he really hated being enclosed like that but Tinwë has taken to it like the proverbial duck to water!

I think he was a little bit annoyed with me for interfering yesterday, I'm trying to leave him to just settle for a bit but he's become quite a burrower & was making a lovely long burrow along the back of his bin right under his sand bath which is quite heavy so I moved things around a bit, he was a little more skittish again yesterday evening but so pleased to see me this morning I think all is forgiven now

Aww Cypher, I admire how you say you're learning little things from them. So true that each one is different and downsizing his cage has been a great decision by you and for the wonderful Tinwe. Seeing the change in him will be a weight of your shoulders.

I have seen a real change in the little man & it's not even a week yet, he seems to get more confident by the day & although still not keen on interaction in the evenings he doesn't appear scared any more, just sits in his wheel & gives me a go away look!
He's been very happy to see me in the mornings but has just sat in my hand eating a little food, this morning he almost fell over backwards trying to get to me lol! then raced up my arm just like he used to do in his first brave week so we're definitely making progress.
I'm just happy he's happy now

Tinwe sounds very happy and settled now. Must make you smile to have him interacting with you again cypher. I am sure you will make more progress now that you have found what gives him more confidence.

He's so cute! Just read through this thread. He has nice colors to him! Looks like he has a nice personality that I'm sure will continue to grow as he gets more comfy in his new cage. He's your new baby Congrats!

It so good to hear that Tinwë is getting braver and more confidence, and sounds like he has settled in well to his new cage. It so nice to hear that he is interacting with you again and I'm sure you will make progress with taming now he feels more comfortable.

Aww Cypher, that is wonderful! All that in such a short time from downsizing his cage. Truly brilliant!
Well done Tinwe.

Thanks guys
It's been about a week & a half now & I'm happy to say little Tinwë is growing in confidence by the day & seems to be enjoying life so much more now

If (fingers crossed!) everything fits the way I think it will he'll have a nice new granite house this evening, his current getzoo house doesn't have space in any of the rooms for a litter tray so I can't find where he's peeing without destroying his whole nest which is a shame, he was really good about using a litter tray in his old house in the cage so I think it'll be much nicer for him & a lot easier for me.
I also have a shelf idea for his wheel which would give him a little extra space to burrow in but not sure if that's going to work just yet, it'll be a bit of a tight squeeze in there but hopefully it will make a bit better use of the space he has.

Here's the little man enjoying breakfast this morning

I haven't weighed him for a while with him being so stressed before but I'm sure he's grown, still tiny & cute though
