Re: Rubix and Amiga!
I was super fidgety even though it was the middle of the night! The pink lady decided to see how tame I was out of my cage because I don't like anyone in my cage but me! The other pink lady said I have cage tissues? Whatever that means.
My new pink lady managed to coax me into this little blue ball and pick me up in that and I tried out the running around in it and then let me wander around the floor. I snuck under a chest of drawers at one point but I came back out again. Took a couple of treats from her hand and then got a bit scareded so she put me back and now I sleep. Boy was that an adventure!

Rescuing Izzy has been a great experience, it's rewarding to help a hamster who never had a chance to live a fun life, to get a chance to have one (or better than before). I really love my hammies I got as babies too as some of them sit in pet shops for extended periods of time.
But there is something about rescuing that makes things extra special? She isn't even a hands on pet but it doesn't matter. She is warming up it seems if only they were active during the day, then I could work with her more obviously we all wish that!

My robo and my Rory were pet shop, Ronnie was second hand (:P) as a "friend" didn't want him and Sansa was abandoned at my local vets so I claimed her.
Rubix and Amiga are my first two "true" rescues and I am so happy about it.

Re: Rubix and Amiga!
I'm wondering myself if my future hammies might all be rescues? It's great your doing that! I have 6 now so it will be awhile before I can cross that bridge.
How did that come about being abandoned at the vets? That's terrible! Somebody must not have wanted to pay the bill?

They left Sansa outside the vets in a plastic box with some very makeshift airholes and a note asking them to help her. But she was left in the sun in the middle of a hot june day. It was just luck that my puppy was getting neutered that day and the vet nurses know me as a bit of a crazy hamster lady. :P So when we took our puppy home we also gained a hamster.

That's terrible that somebody left it out in the hot sun! I'm sure the vet looked the hamster over first obviously! Must have been meant to be!

Yeah they did and they said there was nothing really wrong with her. So it was strange.

Re: Rubix and Amiga!
Hello! I'm Amiga! I am not as scary as my eyes suggest. In fact! I am the friendliest little thing. I love being scooped up and cuddled and having sniffs around. Though I do like to lick and nibble people's hands I don't hurt a bit! At least the pink lady says it doesn't hurt but she keeps laughing and saying "I'm not food." Hmmm. Still not convinced. Gonna keep trying and see if she actually is.
I had a reallllyyy long sleep and now I'm up and playing with this pink lady. She is so nice!
