Oops... (Snæbjörn's Thread)
So, on Wednesday I was browsing Preloved and I came across a listing for this little ball of fluff and I couldn't resist. I was actually planning on getting a Roborovski.
I went to collect him yesterday afternoon. He is 8 weeks old and he was born on July 3rd. He is extremely tame and friendly as he was handle since he was 2 weeks old.
Unfortunately I think he has diabetes; his urine smells sickly sweet and he gets easily worn out by exercising. I'm going to try and book an appointment at the Vets for next week.
(This wheel is temporary.)

Re: Oops... (Snæbjörn's Thread)
Aww what a little beauty, congrats
I hope he isn't diabetic, good idea to get him checked by the vet but if you can I would try to test his urine first at least that way you'll have some idea & there's no guarantee he'll pee on demand at the vets!, It is also possible he may have a UTI as that can make the pee smell a bit odd & make them feel generally unwell.

Aw what a lovely little hamster. Wonderful to have him nice and tame.
Hope you manage to sort out the health concerns.

Re: Oops... (Snæbjörn's Thread)
Ok, I've ordered some of the Ketostix strips but they're not going to get to me until next week. I don't think I'm going to have a problem getting him to pee as he seems to pee a lot - another reason why I'm worried.
Other than that he seems quite an energetic ham, even if he has to take breaks, he was awake all night and has turned his whole cage upside down and dug most of the sand out of his dish.

His health issues are a worry, hope you can get him to the vet soon for a check & find out what the problem is.
Other than that it sounds as though he's having fun & making himself at home!

Golly, he's so blooming gorgeous!
The sooner he sees a vet the sooner you can sort out the problem.
