Miss Millie
Introducing Millie, our latest addition! She was labeled at the pet store as a Sunfire Djungarian (so a hybrid). She is sweet but loves to nibble on me still, and is very vocal! I have had her for a couple weeks now, but she needed a little more time to settle in and is not a fan of photos.

Love that first shot, she's posing well for a ham that's not fond of photos!

Re: Miss Millie
So I gave Millie more time to settle in, and she is doing great. Taming is going smoothly, she's starting to come to the front of the cage whenever she hears me and looks forward to attention. Has loved all the veggies and eggs I have offered, but is not huge on fruits. This is a benefit really as I have her on a lower sugar and fat diet anyway to help avoid diabetics.
One thing I have noticed is Millie doesn't dig and move around her substrate. Instead she angrily chatters and stomps around to flatten any "fluffy" areas. She was so upset after her last cage clean that the 2nd day I flatten the substrate for her while she was in the playpen. She was sniffing and squeaking excitedly when I put her back in, I'm sure her way of thanking me for doing the "housework". She also doesn't add anything to her nests, whatever I put in them is what she uses. Has anyone ever had a hamster that acts like this? It seems odd to me, and she acts like a normal hammy in every other way.

Re: Miss Millie
She has quite a character to her and her coloring to me looks more like a Campbell hybrid then a Sunfire WW Hybrid which will still have all the side arches(three of them) and a white belly, and a brown dorsal stripe. And usually has a white shaded face with a Manderine coloring around the eyes and down the skull towards the dorsal stripe on the back. Her head is also shaped more of a Russian Campbell Dwarf being quite pointed. Though she is still a beautiful girl for sure.
She reminds me of my girl Taffy who was a Blonde RC Hybrid which is a mix of Black eyed Argente and Red eyed Argente(the very colors in with her Mom) and WW blood and was the exact same coloring as your beautiful Miss Millie
Taffy-2 months old-a.JPG
Her Mom was the sweetest female, who was almost starved to death and was being tormented in a Tank at a chain store here whose intials are PSP. She was very pregnant and raised the two pups which were born alive and would not dispose of the 7 other still born pups at all. She gave a good fight but no amount of Vet care could save her as the pups drained her body so much she couldn't regain weight and passed away in my hands. Sniff.

Re: Miss Millie
They all have strange little habits of their own, as long as she seems happy I wouldn't worry & it sounds as though she's settling in well.
Probably just as well she's not so keen on fruit, she doesn't need them, veg are much better & far lower in sugars.

Re: Miss Millie
Aww Kelza, so happy for you and Miss Millie, I did laugh at Millie sniffing and squeaking after you had flattened her substrate, it's so rewarding hearing them do that, whenever Twinkle does that, I always feel good inside that she appreciates what I've done.
Twinkle loves her toilet paper with her wood shavings and likes lots.
