Re: Esme <3
Hello Pinkchi. I love all the Pink. Definitely don't let the cats hover by the cage. Hammies know the cat is there and they can get very stressed by it. Absolutely no cat on the cage,. I'd also look into meshing the tank top. The bars look to be too wide. Your cat could reach in and grab Esme. Better careful now than grieving later. Esme is a stunning little ham. I truly love her coloring.

Re: Esme <3
Thanks for the advice DrKMcK. The kittens are only in my room under supervision, the door is shut during the day and at night. I am looking into getting some mesh for the lid just haven't managed to find time to do so yet. I assure you she is kept very safe in the presence of the kittens but thank you for your concern. I will look at ordering some mesh tonight online
Thanks everyone I'm absolutely smitten with her she is an absolute angel. Her cage is very rough at the moment, hoping to decorate it a bit better and switch to carefresh for her

Re: Esme <3
DrK mentioned that being around cats stresses them. Stress is unhealthy. Even the best cage can't prevent that from happening really....I've seen my hams have reactions just having another ham cage nearby. Whether it's interest, or stress I can't say but they do tend to be more cautious and zeroed in on the 'intruder'....even in separate cages. They can get used to it hamster to hamster (provided one is not in heat) but I wouldn't try to get a hamster 'used to' the presence of a predator species....

Re: Esme <3
To be fair she lives up on a chest of drawers. She was only on the floor as I'd just set up her new cage and took a pic before I put her up so the kittens can't normally get to her.
Just been looking the the threads for meshing tips. Think id better grab a box of plasters also lol!
