Sofia was my second rescue from RSPCA Altrinchim, it all happened very quickly! When I got Badger Julia, the small furries lady from RSPCA Altrincham told me all about these little dwarfies that they had got in. Skip forward just over a month I was browsing Twitter and saw a tweet by the RSPCA saying that they still had the little dwarfies. An email later and Sofia came to live with me the next day!
Sofia was named 'Sharon' by the RSPCA but I wasn't keen on the name so named her after a friend. When Julia bought her round she was in a Mini Duna, seemed nice and alert and came to say hello to me. Getting her out of the Mini Duna was, er, difficult. She screeched her little head off but thankfully didn't bite Julia. She settled in very quickly into her Kios and soon found that she could burrow. I doubt she had ever had enough substrate to burrow in so since then she's become the invisible ham!
Sadly, because of hardly seeing her, I only have the one picture of her and it's not very good... But, here she is -
Sofia was apparently found stray with a few other hamsters, I'm 99.9% sure that she's a hybrid as I imagine she's from a pet store or accidental litter. I've recently started Operation Substrate Removal and since I started that I've seen her three times, in four days! She's very nervous around people but has taken treats and I'm hoping that as soon as she realises we won't attack her or something when we're in the room she'll be happy being out and about when either myself or my partner are in the bedroom. Fingers crossed anyway!
