Default One and a half diabetic hybrid in need of advice...

My one and half year old diabetic hybrid dwarf Russian Campbell hamster - Female - "Pudge" has been acting extremely sluggish as I came in from my grandparents dropping me off today. I'm at home, my house, and I'm keeping a careful eye on her.

She'll only drink water from my hand, and she wont really eat much. My grandma cooked spagettieh and I washed out the salt from the plain pasta thinking all my hamsters would go nuts for it - but there I saw her hunched over, squinting and shaking and breathing harshly.

She's barely moving and when she does its really slow-like.

I got her to sit in my hands. Thats it. Just SIT. She doesnt move much in my hands and she smells like feces and urine. I'm planning on mixing chinchilla sand and aspen bedding with her potty this weekend and cleaning out her cage, but I dont want to stress her so I'm gonna make sure to do her cage cleaning first if anything.

The thing is, Ive noticed... she's given up will to do ANYTHING. Not depression - but like, just because I think she's in a bit of pain. She's walking funny, and her hindquaters are off. I dont know if its a lump or just her butt but she's limping and jerking around funny-like. She's panting heavily and I've been letting her lick water from my hand - she wont reach up to the water bottle or reach up to sip from a dish I set in there.

I've been talking to her, making clicking noises but that doesnt wake her up either like it usually does.

I've been thinking of making a hamster mash-mix to give to her but I wouldnt know how to make it diabetically-safe for her. Maybe seeds (bird or hamster) and veggies (no fruits) maybe tofu added in? and mash it in the blender, cool it in the fridge after heating it in the microwave etc. Maybe she'll lick it from my hand and that'll be replacements from her main diet.

It's probably something she'll have to eat instead of her seed and/or fresh veggies like Broccoli and lettuce, because she hasnt really been touching them lately. If anyone can send me links to a 'hamster mash' that'd be great...

I've been looking over my shoulder at her tank, constantly checking her out to see if she's still alive. she's alive, but I still am worried about her.

I dont have any transportation - and tomorrow is the weekend. I'll see if my vet is experienced at all with hamsters, I know they took in my ferret and rabbit and that's where my dogs go, so I'm hoping that's where I can take in Pudge as well. For the meantime though, if you all have any tips until tomorrow - I would appriciate it!

You can just water and mash her normal food or give her some baby food if she will eat it. It sounds like this advice is coming a little late though. How did the vet visit go? It's hard and can be expensive to treat a diabetic hamster. Our diabetic dwarf died a month or so ago but we ended up treating him with insulin injections twice a day after the oral meds failed.
