sooty is lovely i think he would try and 'play' with kiba if he got the chance. my mum has a westie and she has found baby birds before and 'played' with them. it's really sad when she does but it's clear that she's not viciously killing, she's just flinging them/rolling on them as she would any of her toys. eeek!
back to hams! how is kiba doing? awaiting more pics
lol yeah, I know wot u mean, but he has no chance of getting any closer than he already did
Kiba is doing fantastic, handling really well, had him out last night on cough with us, he was crawling up my arm onto my shoulder, same with my husband, investigating everywhere, so cute when he sat on my hand and took sunflower seeds from his pouches and deshelled them then ate them, then investigated some more then he had a wee sweet pee on my jammies lol >.< cutems
Need to get proper camera charged and get some decent pics..phone pics for now
latest pic:
Nomming on mealworms
Nomming on peanut:
As soon as I started taking pics of peanut nomming he was like...muummmmmmmm I'm eating lol then continued:
Todays, treated Kiba to a small bit of lettuce and carrot for his first time..nibbled at the corn, loved the carrot and lettuce though, perhaps will devour corn later >.< :
AW! his coat is just gorgeous. ha he's nomming, proper chowing down hope you don't mind me saying, you probably know anyway, but corn and carrots (same with fruits, berries, peas, sugary pet shop treats) are high in sugar and unfortunately our little hybrids are prone to diabetes. I guess as a very occasional treat they are OK though I don't give them to my hams as I worry for them!

No no its cool, this was the first time I gave it to him, just to see what he thought, wouldn't be giving it everyday to him. Was just a mixed salad I had got that was going out of date in a day, so thought for all the price would get it for a wee treat for him since he has never had it.
What fresh food would you feed your ham and how often?
I'm a new owner, 3 weeks soon lol =) so advice from fellow hybrid owners is more than welcome =D
glad i didn't offend. i used to give wonton those shreds of carrot once and a while but i don't any more as he might have diabetes. he's being tested soon. his previous owner gave him an unlimited supply of raisins (EEK), so i won't be too surprised (just sad) if he has got diabetes.
for fresh food i feed tiny pieces (half a fingernail?!) of lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, boiled egg, cucumber, cauliflower and meal worms, millet spray, seeds and nuts for protein. there's a good info page on diabetes here
i've also just bought silver's basic dwarf hamster mix for them as it is safe for diabetic prone hams, so i'm currently mixing it slowly with the mixes they are both used to with the aim of switching completely to silver's. with harry hamster and burgess dwarf harvest i pick out most of the corn and peas before giving it to them. i leave very small amounts in occasionally. i got given a bag of p@h muesli, it's full of sugar and wonton didn't eat half of it, so if you have that (your ham is from p@h?), i'd recommend switching.
ahh keep posting vids and updates on kiba! can't wait to see him grow up
Thanks for that, will sort some of that next shopping trip. Defo not feeding P@H stuff..I am feeding SupaHamster think its called for dwarfs and after seeing that guide taking out the flat corn etc
Gonna order Silvers mix tomorrow when I get back from work =)

It tells you how much sugar is in different veg and fruit. Thought it might help with Kiba xx
omgoshhh, those pictures! kiba is so beautiful! was he falling asleep on you?! i have never had my dwarfies sit still for more than a wash lol. maybe i need to handle them for longer periods of time.
