How much food should I be feeding
How much food should my two hamsters get. I am feeding Hazel Hamster and taking out everything but the pellets. I use the other parts as treats. How many pellets should I give my two boys? Also should I hand feed them or just scater it around the cage? thanks

Re: How much food should I be feeding
umm, im not sure whether just pellets from the HH mix is that great? i woudl give it all to them and have other things such as pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and fruit veg etc as treats :P
but anyway i give about a handful in each bowl
if the hams are living together it may be better to scatter the food but my two have theirs in a bowl and also some scattered

Re: How much food should I be feeding
By everything but the pellets, do you mean simply the red, green and black ones?
I don't feel its a good idea to take out this much of the mix as they could be missing out on necessary nutrients.
It will also be very boring for the hamsters and this could lead to them loosing weight and condition.
For a pair I would suggest feeding 4 teaspoons full every other day. I would scatter it around the cage as you can't be there to hand feed whenever they are hungry.

Thanks, I was told to take out some of the seeds and stuff but I have been taking it all out because I give them a lot of it back as treats through the day.

It's best to give them all parts of the mix, you can feed additonal foods as treats a few times a week.

Yeah if you only feed them some parts of the mix, they can get very picky xD

Forgot to say, I scatter feed and my Syrian has 1 tablespoon of food per day and my Dwarves get 1 teaspoon per day.
