Default Apples says "it's too hot in here!"

Today was the first super warm day this year, a high of 80 degrees Fahrenheit in my town. Which means my apartment (which has no air conditioning) was about 86F.

Poor Apples was laying out on his belly, first in the top of his house, then in his wheel, then on his shelf, just trying to stay cool. While we were installing the portable air conditioning unit, I grabbed a coffee mug from the freezer and put it in his cage for him.

He approved.

The room is now at a much more comfortable temperature, and the mug has been removed. But he sure didn't want it taken away.

Aaawwww, bless him. I may try that idea in the summer, Frohike especially doesn't like the heat.

The pictures are adorable!
And indeed this is a great idea, for when the heat is coming here!

Hehe thanks guys! Apples is getting in his summer coat, so he looks a bit scruffy. He actually rolled in the cool mug, poor little thing.

The boys are very pleased with the cooler temperatures in their room. My boyfriend and I, on the other hand, were too tired to put another air conditioner in our own bedroom last night. The hamsters had a nice temperature regulated (75F) room, while we slept on top of the covers in front of fans. But as long as my boys are comfortable, I'm happy.

That's genius So cute too! I might try that when it gets warm here (we've had the hottest april ever or something, but I don't think it's been more than about 25 celsius).

I've seen some cool pads in Pets at Home that you freeze and put in the cage - has anyone experienced these? Can they take a nibble? x

Just be careful because when the mug starts warming up it sweats water droplets. Apples licked them all off, but I was worried about him getting wet and catching a draft.

I remember the summer I visited the UK (1998 ) was one of the hottest summers on record. The hotel we stayed at in Scotland had no air conditioning, no fans, and a the only window in our room was this tiny little prison window that only opened an inch! I guess they weren't equipped for an almost 100F summer. It. Was. Miserable.

Bless, he sure looks pleased to have that mug

Sounds like you experienced the randomness of UK weather, we've currently just had a really hot week and now today its freezing where I am!
