Default How many toys??

I have been looking at the fabulous pics of your cages but...............now feel worried that my poor Millie doesn't have enough in her cage.
She is in a ferplast Mini Duna she has her house on the shelf and on the bottom layer she has her food bowl, a bridge, her wheel and 2 cardboard tubes.............is that enough?? I read somewhere that you shouldnt cram too much into the cage.

Thanks in advance

it depends on the hamster really. If you have one that like running about then its best to have fewer toys and leave for florr space to move around, if you have a climber, or a bar chewer they may like to have more toys.

What you have sounds fine to me. If you wanted to try some new ideas that are fairly simple, you could try a tissue box with some holes cut in - even put some toilet roll inners in to make some tubes to play in. Dwarfs also love sand baths, I have one in Boris cage permenantly - I think he would pack his bags and leave home if I took it away!! I just use an small tupperware box, or a plastic takeaway box and put some chinchilla sand in (be careful to use the sand not the dust as this can cause breathing problems) or you can use dry childrens play sand - its perfectly safe for hammies
Hope this helps!

Just like what Hope said :] it depends on the hamsters - Milos not a fan of toys really, he doesnt bother with them, he has his wheel, a puzzle playground, and cardboard box which he sleeps in and some logs which i hide food under :]

Some people hardly give toys at all, just the essentials - food, water, nest, wheel and something to chew (and for dwarfs a sandbath)
Personally i feel they a bit more entertainment, but it needn't be expensive or fancy.
Like Katty says, i think Millie would appreciate a sand bath to keep her coat in good condition and somewhere to dig aswell. I use either a ceramic rabbit bowl, a cardboard creme egg tray or a platic chocolate finger tray
Maybe she'd like a cardboard box to play in too, mine love to sit in it for washing, destroy it and occasionally use it as a toilet

Apat from that, don't worry, lots of playtime and attention is much more fun for her!

i agree with FM dora loves her wheel.. and bridge to enable upto the bars if she hasnt got the shelf unit in... the bars offer her hours of fun lol.. she much prefers climbing the stairs or out in her ball and cuddles. although she now thinks if she chews the clip she can get out... bad habit i started there lol

I tend to see how many toys my hammy likes first. Ami, my second hamster, was never a fan of toys, but Peanut, my current, loves running through all the tunnels. It depends on the size of the cage, hamster, and what she likes. I have one of those cages where everything is split up, and i ended up stuffing all my toys into them, and it is quite a squeeze for the hamster, but hey, it keeps her entertained!
