Default 2 water bottles on cages

Is it just me being over protective or does anyone else have 2 water bottles on all of there cages just in case one fails?

What are the chances of this actually happening?

I used to have both a bowl and bottle for peggy, but she never used the bottle so i just went with the bowl

If you check that watre is coming out of the water bottle spout everyday then it should be fine.
If you want two water bottles just to be safe thats up to you, but as long as you have a good brand water bottle (i've heard savic ones tend to stop working and some hamsters can't use the ferplast sippys)

I was happy with one, and also checked it was working every day after changing water; I did put 2 bottles in when I left my ham alone overnight, just in case one failed before I got back the next day, but maybe that is overprotective mummy behaviour?? I've also read that in the more complex cages with many compartments / tubes, it can be good to have water in more than one location, to save the poor hammy having to trek back to one bottle every time.

I think I will take one off then. I am using all matching cages for my dwarf hamsters and mice, but Im not keen on the water bottles that came with them. So I added on extras, I think I will just dump the dogdy bottles and stop worrying as much.
