Default Cage Cleaning Question

Over the last two weeks, Toffee has made himself a new bed behind his wheel (presumably his normal bed is too hot). It's coming up to cage cleaning time now and I'm wondering what to do, as cleaning the cage will destroy the new bed.

Normally, I chuck out all the old CareFresh and wash out the plastic base of the cage, then spray with petcage disinfectant (a mild one that you just wipe off). Is it still OK to do this, or will he be upset that I've thrown his bed away? I can't really keep much of the CareFresh as it's starting to smell. can I just put new CareFresh in, with a big pile behind the wheel, in the hope that he makes a new bed?

i always keep some of the old nest and put it back in the cage, hamsters in the wild would have changed nests regularly so making a new one after cage cleaning isn't too much of a bother.
But provided the ham with familiar nest and new material to make it ho wthey want it is a good idea

I always give fresh bedding every two weeks. Boris has 2 sleeping areas - one open nest and one in his tissue box, I usually put bedding in both areas for him, but he will drag and move it to more in one area and less in another.
