Default my hamster cages

having many hamsters i have alot of cages, and also i like to try new things so usually end up buying cages just to try some thing new (or if i'm feeling a little bored and fancy something to do) so i thought i would make a thread with pictures of my cages, i won't add them all at once for now i'll just post the ones i have pictures of on photobucket

i bout this one yesterday for the boy i'm keeping from my litter

this is the cage i kept all the boys from the litter in to run them on after leaving mum

Is that fluffy bedding I see? That is very dangerous and can cause a terrible death if ingested by your hammie, I would suggest changing this for a paper based bedding, even shredded plain toilet/tissue paper works well.
Also that cage is a abit small for a syrian hamster as they need alot of room to run around and need a wheel at least 8inches in diameter, the wheel you have will be ok for now, but once they are fully grown they will need much larger wheels as these ones will arch there back and be very uncomfortable for them, I made the same mistake before joining here. Hope this is of help to you, your little boys are gorgeous x

thankyou i am upgrading all my cages up to the medium sized savic wheels, i tend not to use the fluffy bedding but my female syrian will only build nests with it so i mostly use it during winter for her times like now when we're having this lovely weather i tend to use shredded papper, i am trying her on different bedding but she just spreads it out rather than nest with it unfortunatley, i might start mxing different bedding and see how that works, the other thing i was thinking of using was straw but i'm not sure on that one

No if they get straw in there pouches it can damage them, I use shredded Jcloth, which you can buy in wilkinsons for 79p. Just as cosy as the fluffy bedding but 100times safer for them I did see in you other post that you were using paper bedding after reading here, made me smile

Won't be trying the straw then lol. I had some of the clath from pets at home but it was square and didn't hold together and she just ended up on top of it if i remember correctly the wilkos one is like the shredded paper in shape, so i might try that one out
