Yes I have found confidence and determination a great help!
Even though my hamsters aren't the most well mannered, with grumpy old woman peggy nipping me. Porridge was also quite a nipper to start off with, and Newbie Treo is a bit nippy too!
I was amazed at how being persistant and not getting put off really helped the last time porridge bit me, he had his whole mouth round my finger and just not reacting caused him to stop immediately and he hasn't hit since.
Treo is very confident but I think the fact I'm used to niping a jumpy hamsters has partly made him even more confident XD

So big breaths, count to ten and think like your queen of the world!
It's sure to help with many things along with hamster taming LOL

I am full of cold so not handling her at the moment because I read you can pass your cold to hamsters ( is this right?). My husband is still handling her though.

Yes that is right
I always use strong antibacterial gel or hand wash before handling, if I have mild cold or it's just finished.
If it's worse I will avoid handling
