We got her a new cage today, she has so much more room now then she had before

Hopefully she will settle in....

I have another question if I may...

If we have now put her in the new cage, do I leave her for a couple of days again to settle in like we did when we first brought her home?

I am worrying that moving her again is likely to cause her a lot of stress.

I have put her house she had in the other cage in with her, so maybe this will help?

Many thanks

Pebbles xx

No you do not need to leave her I would leave the cage alone though, so she can make her bed, scent and be used to the layout.
Otherwise she should be fine

My mother dreams of poisoning my hamster and wishing she wasn't so scared so she could do it!

Great thanks for replying fluffymunchkins

I have truely caught the bug, I love little Pebbles so much lol

She makes me smile, especially after a long day.

My husband is braver than me he has picked her up. I have laid my hand in the cage and she walks over my hand. She does stop but as soon as I lift my hand she jumps off. She is so cute

Have you tried putting a treat on your hand and lifting her a little when she stops to take it?

I tried that tonight she just sniffed it then walked off my hand

Later she took the treat out of my hand so I think I am making progress hopefully.

My husband just has to put his hand in and say come on then and she goes on to his hand to come out. I think she must sense my fear, bless her. I'm getting better though

It is definitely a confidence thing (for you and Pebbles), and once you are able to have your hammie out of the cage and next to you, it is easier, H would often hop away from my hand in the cage, and I thought if i lifted him onto my lap he would shoot off straight away, but when I eventually braved it, he was happy to potter about on my knees for a minute or so. The empty bathtub idea is great to start this sort of handling without the fear of escape
