Question Bedding?

Hey I had a wee question
im on my second Syrian hamster but it’s been a while and I’ve completely forgot a lot
I’ve seen mixed reviews on the kaytee bedding
I was wondering your opinion on it or whether the carefresh is better?
I saw some people say kaytee was dusty (but this could just be some batches)
But then others say carefresh is more dusty but better than Kaytee and holding burrows?

I was also wanting to check if wood shavings from pets at home would be alright? They are kiln dried to remove harmful bits and dust extracted

Default Re: Bedding?

I’ve used both brands of paper bedding recently. Neither caused health problems for my dwarf, but the Kaytee is slightly dustier when fresh out of the package. Kaytee is softer but Carefresh seems to do a better job of scent control.

Make sure to sift through the Carefresh by hand to remove hard clumps. I’ve found several rough bits of the recycled paper that had sharp edges.

As you mentioned Pets at Home, I'm assuming you're in the UK. If so, then you have numerous options.
Wood shavings are fine, as wood in the UK is kiln dried. There's also hemp/aubiose, Megazorb, Fitch paper bedding, and my own choice, teabag bedding from Carcroft pet supplies.
Have a look at each, and decide for yourself which would be best for you.
