Default Walnut shells ok for substrate.

I purchased a 25 lbs box of walnut shells for media blasting from harbor freight. Turns out and long story short wont work with the gun in have. So I was wondering if it could be used for a different substrate for my Syrian? I know that play sand has to be baked.. Any advise for these walnut shells?

Walnut shells would be a very poor choice. The biggest issue is that they harbor mold very easily which would lead to serious health issues.
