Default Dwarf hamster housing

Hello everyone! It’s great to find a forum for hopefully all of my questions I might have. So my son has wanted hamsters for several months so I decided to surprise him for Christmas with a bunch of cages. Before I get bashed I am aware the Kaytee cages are not the best quality but he really wanted the tunnels and different cages. I have 4 cages including the large habitat with roughly 1250 sq inches and about 3.5 feet total in tubing, multiple wheels. I am looking at dwarf hamsters because I know it’s not big enough or the best cages for Syrians, is this enough space for 3 hamsters or just 2? Is a group of 3 hamsters advisable no matter the amount of living space? TIA

honestly having more than one hamster for a cage is really not advisable even with a large amount of space. even if you bought a bonded pair, its very rare that they actually stay bonded longer than a couple months.
if you want to get more than one hamster, its really wiser to keep them completely separate.
your cage system sound great, the main thing you want to look out for in these kind of cages is that a proper sized wheel will fit inside. so for dwarf hamster that should be 6-9 inches.
you're definitely right about a dwarf hamster for this kind of cage, although keep in mind that Syrians tend to be better for children. But it definitely is possible to find a tame dwarf hamster he can enjoy as a pet.
Good Luck!
