Default Which room?

Hello guys,
I'm new here. I'm about to get a hamster (Syrian) for the first time and I'm unsure where to place his enclosure.
I live with my husband and 3yo son in a three story home.
First floor is kind of cold, around 4 or 5F below the rest of the house, and it only has a single glass door as source of natural light, it's the quietest place of the house as my husband works there sometimes, and my son's play gym is there, so he goes there to play sometimes after school.
The main floor has an open plan kitchen, dinning room, living/TV room and play area. There's plenty of natural light but it's the busiest place in the house.
Upstairs there are the bedrooms and bathrooms.
Is it a bad idea to place my hamster habitat in the living room?
Note: my son goes to daycare from 8am until 5pm we have a lote of action in the kitchen during the morning.
