Exclamation New bedding has bugs

I have two questions.

1. I bought new bedding from bunny nature, and the materials are Linen fibre, straw pellets, and pine heartwood. Are these safe to use as bedding for hamsters?

2. After setting up my hamster's cage with the new bedding, I noticed a plant fly and a tiny light green bug in the cage. I'm guessing it's from the bedding. I've only used wood shavings before and never had this problem. Do I need to change the bedding?

hey! unfortunately pine is unsafe for hamsters, so I recommend you change your bedding. I personally believe that unscented paper bedding mixed with low dust aspen shavings is your best bet here - it is the safest option, & it is what myself & many others use!
