Default Float glass vs tempered glass for tank

I emailed Jungle pets for a quote on a custom glass tank as I wanna upgrade my Syrians enclosure from the crap plasta cage I made. They said it would cost me £345 plus delivery. My issue is that I notice they say they use float glass, which after research, I know is not as strong as tempered glass. Does anyone know if float glass will be ok, if my hammy is a chewer? I'm worried when she chew she might accidentally crack the bottom (even if I layer it), especially as its a lot of money for a tank. Thank you.

Glass should be chewproof. So therefore Float glass should be strong enough to withstand chewing. Although can’t say for certain whether regular chewing on the same area would cause stress cracks which may weaken the glass and cause shatters. Plus You would have to make sure the entire base is on a flat surface to avoid the same issue.

Have you asked if they would be willing to make the enclosure out of tempered glass? - the price may be more expensive though

I personally have avoided a glass enclosure as I’m worried with myself being clumsy I would accidentally shatter the glass so I’ve used thick acrylic.

Thanks @SKB_Hamsters. I just read some reviews on them, and they seemed mostly negative. Am now not so sure =(
P.s. I tried to Google the difference between acrylic, perspex and plexiglass, but they appear to be the same thing, is there any difference at all? Could you also tell me does dust stick to them easily? Am thinking of just buying another larger ikea unit and placing either glass or plexiglass at the bottom to keep it clean. Thanks

I think if you have read negative reviews and aren’t 100% certain I would look into your other options first before coming to a decision.

Perspex and Plexiglass are brand name for acrylic. So they are exactly the same.

Dust will only stick to acrylic if it become static so I don’t wipe the acrylic with a dry cloth. A little dust will cling to the acrylic but I don’t notice it. I find it only really gets dusty when I put new bedding in so if you wipe it down after with a damp (not wet) cloth it will take the dust off. If it too wet it will leave water streaks marks when it dries.
