Hi, this sucks it has to be my first post on here but...I just adopted my Syrian hamster, Flower, a few days ago and I got her this hide from the reptile section:
petco.com
She's been chewing it sooo much and it had left little shavings in her burrows. I started to question whether the hide was safe or not and upon looking it up, some people were saying it was made out of pine. I know pine shavings is unsafe for hamsters. Should I take it out? and what do I do about all the shavings that are left in her bedding? Pleaseee let me know I'm so worried it's where she sleeps.
Also! I know orchard gray hay is safe for hamsters, but I didn't look much into brands so I got her the Kaytee brand orchard grass hay
petco.com and I put it at the top of her bedding. I noticed it's pretty sharp, not really soft at all. Is it safe or should I remove it? I also seen that hay can cause mold to form quickly and I put a lot at the top.
I just got her a few days ago like I said, so would it be detrimental to her to completely change her bedding? because I was trying to pick out the pieces of hay but it was next to impossible. I would feel so bad though because she has already made intricate burrows.
