sounds like you're doing a great job so far!
if you are US based, I would recommend the 12in silent runner or the niteangel silent spinner in the large or extra large wheel. I dont really know wheels in the UK though.
I don't know if you already have a suitable cage, but if not I highly recommend a bin cage. they're the cheapest kind and after trying many cages for my syrian, I found a bin cage to work out the best.
the only thing I can think of adding is a sand box and maybe some more bridges, platforms, etc. just stuff for him to climb and explore and have a more exciting cage.
I also came to hamsters from guinea pigs and while piggies are great, I really enjoyed the change. the work is a lot easier, and hamsters (especially Syrians!) tend to be more chilled and easier to tame.
