Spot cleaning a new hamsters cage
I've just got my first Syrian hamster the day before yesterday and my cleaning routine for my previous dwarf(whom I put in a pets at home large cage when I have totally no idea about hamsters)was spot clean every other day and full clean every week.now I know more about hamsters, I know you wouldn't do full cleans but I still want to keep spot cleaning every other day.My question is here: Should I start spot cleaning today ?

Re: Spot cleaning a new hamsters cage
For most hamsters it would be stressful to start even just spot cleaning this early, so unless something absolutely needs cleaning out for safety which is very unlikely I would stick to just adding food and water for now.

Re: Spot cleaning a new hamsters cage
That would depend entirely on the individual hamster. I would personally wait until at least the first week has passed, though some hamsters may still take even longer than that to get comfortable with a new home enough to risk spot cleaning and such.
