Exclamation Is this piece of plywood hamster safe?

Hey y’all, I bought this exact birch plywood piece (https://www.lowes.com/pd/1-4-in-HPVA-Birch-Plywood-Application-as-2-x-2/1000074213) earlier today from Lowes and am not 100% sure it’s hamster safe. The product description says there is no added formaldehyde. The word “added” is what concerns me, does that mean that it is still made with SOME formaldehyde?

From the product description: * Environmentally friendly no added formaldehyde adhesive * CARB 93120 TSCA title VI formaldehyde compliant

I tried looking up the law that this piece of plywood is compliant for, but that offered no insight as to whether or not there is in fact formaldehyde in the piece of wood. I guess I just don’t know enough about plywood and how it’s made to be sure. Any insight and help would be appreciated! I’m hoping to borrow a friend’s tools to make the dig box today, so I want to be sure this is a safe piece of wood ASAP.

From the listing I cannot be certain if it has formaldehyde or not. However been doing a bit of research online usually companies don’t state formaldehyde free as formaldehyde are a naturally occurring organic compound in wood so all wood will have a trace level amount of it. When it say no added formaldehyde it means none are added during the manufacturing process as a glue.

You could always reach out the the company they may be able to give you a definitive answer.

When I’m using wood for cage accessories I usually to stick to untreated kiln dried pine wood. And my cages are made using ikea wood as they don’t added formaldehyde to their products.
