I've always used similar platforms and steps made from wood with bark and never had any issues. I will continue to use them because i can't see a problem with them.

I know that on the German hamster forum they say that its not safe because of the Harz/resin it can produce.

Like with so many hamster related things, opinions vary and there's not always a clear yes or no answer.

Will be interesting to see what other people think.

That's my point. I've never seen any resin on these products so i'm using them.

What i'm saying is that some people would call them unsafe but in my opinion they are safe.

I've only had one item made of that kind of wood with bark that arrived with lots of resin. It was a wooden bridge/archway so I just cut away the part with resin and used the rest. So it might occasionally be an issue and you should check each individual item before using it.

Another issue with those kinds of products is that they sometimes contain sharp pins. That particular platform might be ok (I have a similar one which doesn't have any pins) check before using it.

Nothing is 100% safe so while people will have varying opinions on everything, you have to use your own judgment and discretion.

I have sent a mail to trixie to get more spesific information. I would love to use the platform and shelf from trixie.
