Softwood, that can mean pine or other type of wood :O

I think the risk is breathing it in too. Maybe you could wait to see what other members think? I personally would not use pine unless it is kiln dried but maybe other members will have different ideas.

I agree with you. I have found it is not easy to find suitable hamster things too.
