Default Where can I get glass tanks in the UK

Looking to buy a 75 gallon/280l glass tank for my hamster but I dont want to pay an extortionate amount like pets at home are asking.
I dont want the cupboard units either, just a tank.

Rn my ham is housed in a 115x50cm cage but its made of wood and while im not worried about him chewing through it (its thick wood) its waking me up all hours of the night as we have to share a bedroom ^^"
I thought about buying the marakesh cage on zooplus as theres nothing for him to get his teeth into, but its slightly smaller and It seems unfair to downgrade on his size just so I can sleep.

Have you tried looking for second hand tanks? Sometimes you can pick up a bargain there. I looked into getting a tank but found them really expensive. I could not get a second hand tank as I do not have any transport. With a heavy tank you would need a strong unit to put it on. I looked into Jungle Pets who make custom tanks but saw very bad reviews.

Have you addressed everything that could cause your hamster to chew the wood so much that it keeps you awake?

To look for a second hand aquarium or vivarium and then make a meshed lid is probably your best option.

Nothings jumping out at me as wrong with his evironment. He has 8 inches of bedding, a 12 inch wheel, he has hides and tunnels, chews and puzzle toys all of which are being used.

The only thing I can think is causing it is that hes new, only been in the cage for about 2 weeks so is still testing the boundaries/feeling a little insecure. Its not constant chewing, just some very loud nibbles between 5 and 6 am that are disturbing me.
OR
He wants outside cage time, but we are not at the stage of being handled.

Being very new does make a difference. Have you cleaned him out since he was in there? That can stress them out when they’re settling in and make them want to escape. Do you have enough space to add a flying saucer as well as a wheel? Just asking because our Syrian constantly tried to chew his way out of the playpen but since I added the 30cm flying saucer he’s stopped bothering. Basically something to distract him.

As it’s early days I’d hang fire and maybe try a few things.

Our current Syrian chewed off all the cardboard I’d put round the inside of the cage, during his first couple of weeks! I’d done that to have deeper bedding so of course all the bedding fell out. But then he settled down. Even. Pw though he will start to bar chew in the evening if he sees me and I haven’t let him out by 9pm! But only a little bit.

Maybe try scatter feeding as well. It sounds like he might just get bored at 5am and see if he can get out!

Could you post a photo of your set up? The odd tweak might solve it.

Having said that, the Marrakesh could still be a good option if set up carefully to make the most of the space.

if i was you, i would look on facebook marketplace or ebay for second hand tanks. facebook marketplace is very good and very cheap + i've found many very cheap ikea detolfs on there but if ur not looking for second hand, i would look in either the range's fish area. i'm not sure what the prices are in the range bc i didn't look but i did see quite a lot of glass tanks.
