I don't but i personally don't like things with rungs on as a hamster can quite easily catch a paw or get one stuck. they aren't really climbers like rats and mice

Agree with Luna. I'd keep well away from any gaps. I had a tiny dwarf once who got her head stuck.
The house is fine but i'd cover the window. I have this house and used Elmer's school glue to glue the wooden leaf on.
