Default Savic top door

I'm buying a surplus Savic Plaza off a friend for Clive.

Yesterday i picked up a couple of small, free cages, one of them a Duna fun or maybe it's a petsathome one.

I wanted the top door and just cut out a door panel. The cable ties are for added security.

Plan is to cut the bars of the Plaza and then cable tie the door panel into place to create top access.

Haven't picked up the Plaza yet so hope that this idea will work.

The title was meant to say Savic Plaza top door but it won't let me edit it now.

Great idea. I remember you mentioning it. Looking forward to seeing the results! My only concern would be attaching it with cable ties. Depends on the hamster I guess, but Raffy just chews through cable ties.

That is a great idea. I have even seen bin cages were people put such doors on.

Clive would need to swing off the ceiling and chew at the same time. Wouldn't put it past him though.

I'll get the Plaza tomorrow and then have a think.

Rodney monkey barred in his younger days (to get my attention when i was sitting by my desk) but haven't seen Clive doing it.

Serendipity, i remember you bolting an upsidedown wheel to the roof of a Plaza. Was that a short bolt, nut and a washer on each side?

I just used the screws from the wheel stand (the ones that held the wheel to the wood base) plus some large round washers on the outside only On both sides might have been better. A bolt would do the same thing and would probably need a washer one side and a wing nut the other side?

Yes a hamster would have difficult chewing off all the cable ties in one night while hanging from the roof

what about bendy jewellery wire if you are worried about zip ties, you can get it in different thickness? I've used it before to replace gaps in mesh when cutting has opened the mesh up too much

I think bolts sounds good. I've seen people bolt mesh panels onto bin cages before rather than use cable ties. Bendy jewellery wire sounds good too - but how do you make sure there are no sticky out sharp edges?

it's twistable so you can just make it work, ie.. bend it back in on it self, or tie (twist) it in a way that it fastens on the outside and not going to move.
