Hamster heaven
My lovely roborovski hamster Rafferty has recently moved into the hamster heaven cage. He was in a 100 x 50cm cage before but I moved him as I am soon going to be moving house and will have less space available.
He LOVES it! He comes out more and is delighted with his new bigger sandbath (and old lasagne dish).
I love the hh without all the tubes and plastic platforms (have seen some great set ups with and without those).
I felt bad for him moving to a smaller space and am very happy and relieved that he has reacted so well.

Re: Hamster heaven
Snap! After i moved my Robo into a Hamster Heaven i was concerned that he may not like it.
Like your Rafferty, he loves it in there! It's a great cage for a dwarf. They can smell their surroundings and come to the door to see us. I think for a hamster to be able to smell what's outside their habitat is important and makes them more curious and interactive.
I'd love to see a photo of Rafferty's new home.

Great to hear Rafferty is enjoying his new home, always an apprehensive time doing a cage change, but sounds like you’ve made it all homely as he’s settled in so well
Our Syrian lives in a hamster heaven, we’ve had him 7 months now and I didn’t realise he would grow so big, but without the tubes etc we’ve had plenty of space to fit in different levels, his large wheel, sand bath, other tubes/hides, a shoebox that he nests in and his favourite foraging tray.

Re: Hamster heaven
He was in a barred cage before. I prefer cages with bars. It was called the elmo xxl. Got it from the german amazon when you could.
Will try and get some pics tomorrow.
Sooo HOT!!!

Re: Hamster heaven
I remember you getting the Elmo! When I wanted one they weren't available any more. (It's basically a low height 100cm Barney).
I wonder if it's the big front door and no top access in the Hamster Heaven, that they prefer. Much easier to have overhead cover when no top door.
Our Robo is in the 100cm plaza and loves that. Our last Robo was in the Savic Mickey 2XL (the version of the Hamster Heaven with narrow bar spacing). He was happy in there. I do think the Savic Plaza makes a good robo cage as well - if you deal with the height. Which is not easy.

Re: Hamster heaven
He just took to it even before I ooened the door. Exploring and generally being out and about. He has been out every day since.
I certainly love the big front door. The elmo is good too.
Moving house soon so will be selling/giving away most of my cages. Barney has gone already and the alaska. Just the living world eco and the multy duna maxi to go!

Re: Hamster heaven
Oh goodness, that is quite a clear out! I will always keep my Mickey 2XL (Hamster Heaven equivalent). Never met a hamster who didn't like them - although some Syrians can outgrow them. But Pickle was happier in that than the Plaza too. It's kind of not too big, not too small isn't it - and the lower height maybe makes them feel more secure.
So will you just have the one cage after you move?

Re: Hamster heaven
I will have the hamster heaven and the elmo. I rehomed the borneo xxl a while ago. I like the height of the elmo. Not sure that a syrians wheel would fit in it though ...

Re: Hamster heaven
Wish I'd known - I could have done with a Borneo XXL! Although transporting these things is always the issue.

Re: Hamster heaven
I advertised them but no takers round here. Gave it to a charity shop in the end. Hopefully someone will get good use from it.
Yes transport could have been an issue.
