Re: Savic top door
Aww, lovely boy Charlie.
Only thing is that i use the Ferplast houses and they are like an Ikea self assembly job that slots into place.
I must get some ponal glue. Is it available in UK or do you get it from Germany? I may go for the dowels glued on the outside so i can still take the house apart.
Thank you Serendipity.
The metal cable ties were £7 for 10 so i gave them a miss for now but can order some off Amazon if needed.
I bought a packet of coloured ones and decided to go a bit made with colour, for a change.

Re: Savic top door
I need to check out metal cable ties too. Raffy chewed through the plastic ones.
I think it would work with the Ferplast houses with dowels on the outside. If there was a leg on each side it should prevent the panels slipping out of place. I seem to remember they are quite firm when slotted together.
I bought the ponal on Amazon. At the time I thought it was a bit expensive - about £12 I think. But it’s quite a big bottle and I used it for about five years! Then it got too gunged up. So bought another bottle. I liked it so much I’ve used it for all kinds of diy. It’s a strong wood glue but without the fumes. Used it on furniture and all sorts! It’s my go to glue now.

Not sure you’d need legs for a shoebox ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif) . Cardboard is light enough to sit on the substrate. On the other hand it would keep it stable. My shoebox house kept sinking at one side when tunnelled under.

Ponal is Holzleim/woodglue. I wonder what the difference is between the german ponal and the british evostick.

Re: Savic top door
I've moved Clive into the Plaza. Would have been very awkward to set up without the top door. I had to put a mat in front of the wheel because he was a bit overenthusiastic burrowing and jammed the wheel overnight. I kept to the set up from the Alaska but introduced a corner toilet that's too heavy for him to tip over. One can hope. He has his sand jar as well. I had a second, go through, house in front of the burrowing area but took it out because it had the opposite effect. See how we go. Clive seems happy enough.

That looks amazing and so enriching. Pity you cannot come over and arrange my cage. Lol.

Re: Savic top door
Thanks. You're doing very well yourself with Orko's set ups and certainly don't need any help.
I'm going to replace the long bendy bridge with a solid ramp yet but need to find or make one.

Coming from me?! Most of the ideas for the Plaza i've nicked from Luna's video. It has Luna written allover. The sputnik i first saw in Serendipity's Plazas but i've never mastered the way she connects them with a tube leading to a shelf. Need to have another look.

I have watched all Luna's videos too. I looked at all the cages in the cage thread on here before attempting my own.
You have a lot of knowledge of hamsters and they kind of set up they like and dislike. I appreciate all the advice you give me.
